Uttarakhand Foundation Day: Today i.e. on 9th November, Uttarakhand has completed 24 years of existence. In the year 2000, on 9th November, Uttarakhand was separated from Uttar Pradesh and established. Just as other states of India separated from other states, Uttarakhand also separated from Uttar Pradesh. There were many movements for that too, many people even lost their lives.
After the formation of Uttarakhand, senior Congress leader Narayan Dutt Tiwari, also known as ND Tiwari, played an important role in its development. ND Tiwari also became the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Before the formation of Uttarakhand, a speech of ND Tiwari had become very famous. In which ND Tiwari had said, ‘Uttarakhand will be built on my dead body.’ Know why ND Tiwari said this.
ND Tiwari was not in favor of becoming Uttarakhand
ND Tiwari’s personal life outweighed his political life. But despite this he had achieved great heights in his political career. When there was a demand to separate Uttarakhand from Uttar Pradesh and create a separate state. Then ND Tiwari was not in favor of division of Uttar Pradesh. He was against making Uttarakhand a separate state. And this was the reason he said ‘Uttarakhand will be built on my dead body.’ ND Tiwari believed that division of Uttar Pradesh could prove to be a very bad step for the unity of the state and its administrative situation. That is why he was against the creation of Uttarakhand.
Later became the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand
Narayan Tiwari was initially against the formation of Uttarakhand. But later in the year 2000, when Uttarakhand was divided from Uttar Pradesh, a new state was created. So Narayan Dutt Tiwari, who was against the formation of Uttarakhand, got a chance to become the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
